Brent crude oil rose. The protracted peace negotiations between
Russia and Ukraine maintain a high level of geopolitical risks.
The operators said they were notified by the
CME just before 03:00 GMT after trading stopped due to a problem
of cooling in its CyrusOne data centers, which affected
trading of all futures and options contracts on Globex.
Brent oil is traded on the Intercontinental
Exchange, or ICE.
The Brent crude oil futures contract for
January delivery, which expires on Friday, increased by 15 cents, or 0.24%,
to reach $63.58 per barrel at 7:38am GMT, after closing in
Up 21 cents on Thursday.
The February contract, which was more active, was traded to
$62.99, an increase of 15 cents.
The American Crude Oil Price West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stabilized at $59.08 per barrel, up 43% cents, or 0.73%. No transactions took place on Thursday due to the day Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. Both contracts are oriented towards a fourth consecutive month of decline, the longest streak of losses since 2023, with expectations of increased global supply weighing on prices.
Oil prices were also supported by
the rise in market expectations that the Federal Reserve
The American will lower interest rates next month, which could
stimulate economic growth and strengthen energy demand.
