The African Development Bank (AfDB) announces by March 12, 2021, the virtual presentation of the "African Economic Outlook 2021". This year's edition is entitled "From Debt Resolution to Growth: A Roadmap for Africa" The African Economic Outlook 2021 focuses on current issues such as: African debt settlement, governance and economic growth in Africa. It examines and analyses the performance and growth prospects in Africa and presents the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic on the different countries of the continent. The launch ceremony of the document will be attended by Akinwumi Adesina, President of the AfDB, Professor Joseph Stiglitz (Nobel Prize in Economics), Governors of the Bank, ministers and representatives of the diplomatic corps as well as researchers and experts from various backgrounds. The AfDB's flagship annual report serves both as an information tool on the continent's economic landscape and as a dialogue tool for policy development and operational effectiveness. According to the financial institution, in 2021, Africa is expected to recover from the worst economic recession recorded in half a century. Despite this optimistic forecast, Africa, faced with the health crisis, will still have significant challenges to overcome in order to sustain and ensure good economic growth. This is partly because of the increase in spending needs induced by the pandemic. At the end of the presentation, senior policymakers, sovereign debt specialists and private sector professionals will discuss the opportunity for African countries to better rebuild after the crisis and manage debt problems.
