On December 19, Mobile Money Corporation (MMC), a subsidiary of the MTN group, has formalized the launch of the Prepaid Card MoMo, a virtual card for online payments.

The MoMo Prepaid Card powered by Mastercard and implemented with the support of Access Bank Cameroon. It is available for all subscribers with an active MoMo account This initiative makes MMC the first mobile money operator in Cameroon to offer such a solution on a large scale.

The MoMo Prepaid Card is part of a context of growth of digital uses in Cameroon, where access to online payments remains limited for part of the population, in particular due to the absence of a bank card or a traditional bank account.

It allows any user with an account MoMo active in making secure payments on local platforms and international — from Netflix to Amazon Prime, via Google Play, Canva, Apple Services or even access professional and educational tools related to digital transformation, in particular online training and SaaS software. The card is accepted by a wide range of merchants in line, both locally and internationally, and can be recharged directly from the MoMo account.
