With the support of the African Development Bank (BAD), public authorities and other development partners, are preparing the installation of ten new agricultural processing units on the whole territory.

The project for the installation of ten new units of agricultural transformation is part of the Strengthening Program Resilience to food and nutrition insecurity in the Sahel (P2-P2RS). The project is financed by the ADB to the tune of 6 million dollars. It aims to strengthen food security while developing solid agricultural value chains between producers, processors and traders.

Technical studies are under way to determine the procedures for setting up these industrial units, which will play a key role in the valorization of local productions. And to increase their added value and promote their marketing, especially for export, by particularly on the African regional market, this is the aim of the project.

According to information, the industrial units will in particular specialize in the transformation of rice, fruits and vegetables, with processes integrating packaging and labelling, in order to ensure quality standards adapted to the requirements of regional and international trade.
