European stock markets expected to rise slightly ahead of American employment. The Eurostoxx 50 opens at 3,754.60 points (+0.59%), the CAC 40 at 6,513.39 points (+0.64%), the DAX 40 at 13,662.68 points (+0.55%), the FTSE 100 at 7,448.06 points (+0.03%), the SMI at 11,202.66 points (+0.21%), the AEX at 731.58 points (-0.40%), the BEL 20 at 3,775.27 points (-0.29%), the IBEX 35 at 8,161.10 points (+0.23%), the DJIA at 32,726.82 points (-0.26%), the Nasdaq at 12,720.58 points (+0.41%), the S&P 500 at 4,151.94 points (-0.08%) and the Nikkei 225 at 28,1700.94 points 62 points (+0.85%).

As for exchange rates, the change from the close in New York indicates that EUR/USD opens at 1,0236 (-0.11%), EUR/JPY at 136.40 (+0.13%), and USD/JPY at 133.26 (+0.24%).

The pharmaceutical group Sanofi announced Thursday evening that it has reached a collaboration agreement with the Chinese company Innovent Biologics to intensify the development and commercialization of new cancer drugs in China. As part of this partnership, Sanofi will invest 300 million euros in the capital of Innovent.

The New York Stock Exchange finished in a mixed manner on Thursday after another round of corporate results, as investors regained their breath after the previous day's rebound awaiting monthly US employment figures. Job creation in the United States in July is expected to fall to 258,000 from 372,000 the previous month, according to a survey of economists conducted by the Wall Street Journal. If so, it would be the lowest number of jobs created since December 2021. In Asia, stock markets rose on Friday. The Bank of England also raised interest rates significantly on Thursday, signalling that inflationary pressures were continuing to rise and warning that the British economy would likely enter a recession in the fourth quarter.

The euro gave way against the dollar on Friday morning but rose against the yen, like the greenback. The dollar has not stopped appreciating, according to Jonas Goltermann, economist at Capital Economics.

Crude oil futures rose in Asia on Friday. Crude oil prices were heavily penalized on Thursday by fears for global growth and by the announcement on Wednesday by the US Department of Energy of an increase in crude and gasoline inventories. Around 7:40 a.m., the October Brent futures contract earned 37 cents to $94.49 per barrel, while the September WTI contract rose 54 cents to $89.08 per barrel.
