European equity markets are expected to decline ahead of US inflation. The Eurostoxx 50 opened at 3,487.05 points (+0.44%), the CAC 40 at 6,044.20 points (+0.80%), the DAX 40 at 12,905.48 points (+0.57%), the FTSE 100 at 7.209.86 points (+0.18%), the SMI at 11,069.83 points (+0.39%), the AEX at 670.68 points (+0.23%), the BEL 20 at 3.738.88 points (-0.89%), theIBEX 35 at 8,014.80 points (-0.62%), the DJIA at 30,981.33 points (-0.62%), the Nasdaq at 11,264.73 points (-0.95%), the S&P 500 at 3,818.80 points (-0.92%), and the Nikkei 225 at 26,447.65 points (+0.42%).
The change from the close in New York shows the EUR/USD at 1.0038 (-0.01%), the EUR/JPY at 137.52 (+0.09%), and the USD/JPY at 137.03 (+0.12%).

European equity markets are expected to open lower today, awaiting the release of US inflation figures for June.
At around 7:40 a.m., the CAC 40 futures contract was down 24.4 points, or 0.4%, according to data from broker IG Markets. The DAX 40 contract was giving up 68.5 points, or 0.5 percent, and the FTSE 100 contract was giving up 19.8 points, or 0.3 percent.
Economists expect the U.S. consumer price index (CPI) to rise above 8% for the second consecutive month.
The New York Stock Exchange closed in the red Tuesday, weighed down by recession fears, which also weighed on energy prices and bond yields.
Asian equity markets were up slightly today. The Hang Seng of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange was up 0.7%, while the Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.4%. The Nikkei index was also up 0.4% in late trading in Tokyo.

The euro is stable against the dollar this morning and is up slightly against the yen, as is the greenback. The euro briefly reached parity with the dollar for the first time since 2002, but the trade-weighted value of the euro is not unusually weak, the research firm notes.
Oil futures are little changed this morning, with prices remaining below $100 a barrel.
At around 7:20 a.m., the September contract for North Sea Brent crude was up 12 cents at $99.61 a barrel. The August contract for Nymex-listed light sweet crude (WTI) was up 4 cents at $95.88 a barrel.
Brent's attempts to rebound have been relatively short-lived so far, as unfavorable elements such as predictions about a possibleoccupations about a possible global recession, the Covid-19 situation in China and the soaring dollar have apparently dampened the price rise, IG brokerage observed.
