Candidates reported cases of big scheming in obtaining administrative documents, including cards, and biometric birth certificates. The National Agency for Combating Corruption and Promoting Good Governance (ANLC-PBG) has threatened to crack down on insensitive officials who engage in this practice.

The National Agency for Combating Corruption and Promoting Good Governance stated that it has been informed “that some public officials require additional fees to obtain administrative documents, including biometric national identity cards. The ANLC-PBG wishes to recall that the official price of a birth certificate and a biometric card is fixed by the government at one hundred sixty thousand Guinean francs (160,000 GNF).”

Indeed, the ANLC-PBG warns about the deployment of its agents in the municipalities of Conakry as well as within the country in the coming days, weeks and months to identify, identify and list any public official and/or any individual engaging in acts of corruption or similar offenses in issuing these documents.

For this reason, the ANLC-PBG wishes to state that “these acts are provided for and punishable by Law L/2017/041/AN of 4 July 2017 on the Prevention, Detection and Punishment of Corruption and Similar Offences and by the provisions of articles 771 et seq. of the Criminal Code. To this end, any individual who is apprehended is liable to legal proceedings in accordance with the law in force.”
