The Nasdaq announced last Wednesday the integration of the AfDB (African Development Bank) into the Nasdaq Sustainable Bond Network (NSBN).

The latter is an international platform accessible to the public, designed to improve the transparency of the market for sustainable and green bonds with social impact. Ten AfDB bonds have been added to the platform, including its iconic US$3 billion social bond issue, "Fighting COVID-19", launched in March 2020, the highest social bond to the time on the international capital markets. “Fighting COVID-19” remains the largest US dollar-denominated social bond issue to date.

It aims to contribute to mitigating the economic and social impact of the pandemic on the livelihoods of African populations and the economies of the continent. By joining NSBN, socially responsible issuers have a unique opportunity to draw attention to the concrete actions they are taking in financing climate change and green growth.
