On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, expressed in Lusaka, his firm support for the vision of Group President Bank African Development Sidi Ould Tah, for a new African financial architecture that reinforces sovereignty economy of the continent.

The support given to the ADB was expressed by M. Hichilema who received at the State House in Lusaka -the presidential palace- Mr. Ould Tah after the third meeting of the 17th replenishment cycle of resources from the African Development Fund (ADF-17) successfully organized by Zambia. Indeed, the two leaders underlined the solid partnership between the Group of the Bank African Development and Zambia, as well as the the country's growing leadership in economic transformation efforts and of Africa's financial sovereignty.

According to Ould Tah, “generosity, leadership and Zambia's partnership are a source of inspiration for all of us. Your country's development trajectory embodies what the African Development Fund seeks to achieve: resilience, inclusion, and self-determination.”

The two leaders have also reviewed the progress made under Mission 300, a joint initiative of the African Development Bank and DU Group of the World Bank aiming to expand access to electricity to 300 million additional Africans by 2030.
