The Emirati group AD Ports Group has announced the signing of a partnership with Africa Ports Development (APD) under a contract of 30-year concession for the design, construction and operation of a dry bulk terminal at the Port of Douala, Cameroon.

The agreement provides for an investment structure in which AD Ports, alongside two other Emirati investors including the identity has not been disclosed, will own 60% of the operating company, while ODA will keep the remaining 40 per cent.

As part of the first phase of the project, the group Port will invest around 73.4 million euros (nearly 87.1 million USD). The work, scheduled between 2026 and 2028, includes the construction of two berths and approximately 450 meters of wharf. The terminal will show a annual handling capacity estimated at 4 million tons of goods in dry bulk, including clinker, gypsum, fertilizers, and grains.

The objective is to strengthen the port's capacity on this fast-growing segment, while demand for dry bulk continues to progress in Cameroon and in the regional hinterland.

According to information relayed by Invest in Cameroon, the project also includes the construction of related infrastructures: roads interns, railways, gas pipelines and modern control system the fires. These arrangements are part of a larger program. extension of the port, including the establishment of a power plant electrical and bypass roads intended to ease traffic heavy trucks.

The country's main maritime gateway, the Port of Douala handles most bulk imports and is a hub strategic logistics for landlocked markets in Central Africa. “The new terminal will strengthen regional supply chains and will optimize the flow of key goods,” AD Ports said
