The Government of Nigeria has just partnered with the AfDB and Microsoft to train young people in digital skills. The partnership resulted in the launch of an online training platform.

The Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, has partnered with the  African Development Bank (AfDB) to offer vocational training on digital skills to the country's youth, according to a statement issued by the AfDB.

The partnership, which was also supported by technology company Microsoft resulted in the launch of an online training platform. Dubbed "e-learning digital Nigeria", it is a component of the "Digital Nigeria" program that aims to equip innovators and entrepreneurs with the skills required to thrive in the emerging digital economy.

The content of the trainings will be developed with the aim of equipping young people with marketable digital skills to meet the demand of the labour market at a time of digitalization of services. Thus, the platform offers courses in areas related to web development, content creation, data science and coding.

Courses are accessible via a website and mobile app.

Recall that at the beginning of the year, Nigeria concluded an agreement with IBM. It also aims to develop the digital skills of young people in order to support innovation, design and development of creative industries.
