President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria appoints new ministers and sends the list to the Senate. The president's new nominees, seven in number, replace ministers who resigned because of their political ambitions.

The letter read at the plenary session on Tuesday states: "In accordance with Section 8, Sub-section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I hereby transmit the below ministerial nominees for your confirmation." The nominees are Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh - Abia State, Umana Okon Umana - Akwa Ibom State, Egwumakama Joseph NkamaEbonyi, Goodluck Nnana Opiah - Imo State, Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub - Kano State, Ademola Adewole Adegoroye - Ondo and Odum State. Odih - Rivers State. The names of the nominees are contained in a letter addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
