Spiro, an African company specialized in mobility electric and battery exchange stations for motorcycles, obtained a debt financing of $50 million in order to accelerate its deployment on the continent.

This financing is supported by Afreximbank, Nithio and Africa Go Green Fund, and comes after raising $100 million in October 2025. These successive transactions illustrate the capital intensity of a sector requiring dense infrastructures and a large park of batteries.

Present in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Benin and Togo, Spiro claims more than 80,000 electric motorcycles deployed, 2,500 stations and 30 million battery exchanges.

Its model is based on the rapid exchange of batteries, generating recurring revenue. Recourse to debt reflects trust increasing number of investors in the solidity of its financial flows.
