As part of the BRIDGE (Building) project Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth), the World Bank has validated the Tuesday September 30, 2025 the approval of a financing of 500 million dollars for Nigeria.

mso-bidi-font-family:arial; mso-fareast-language:en"> The Federal Government of Nigeria accelerates its digital transition to strengthen inclusion and modernise its infrastructures. The country is banking on ambitious projects to connect its populations in order to cope with still limited access to broadband and a growing market. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and the Digital Economy, aims to fill the structural shortcomings that hinder access to broadband in poor areas served. The project, with a total cost of 1.6 billion dollars, will financed to the tune of 1.1 billion by private investors, with support complementary to the African Development Bank, the European Bank Investment Bank and the Islamic Development Bank. It provides for the deployment of approximately 90,000 km of climate-resilient optical fiber, powered, when necessary, by renewable energy solutions. The implementation plan includes seven national rings, 37 loops metropolitan areas, 77 regional networks as well as several data centers peripherals.

The objective of the government is to cross the 35,000 km national backbone currently more than 125,000 km away, in order to cover 70% of the population in the coming months.
