The African Electronic Banking Group Centrale (Gimac) has set up the Gimacpay platform. She has treated more than 12 million transactions for a cumulative value of 601.7 billion FCFA at December 31, 2023. The information comes from the latest data published by the Bank of Central African States (BEAC).

Gimacpay's performance reflects an increase of more than 50% in value compared to 2022, the year in which the platform had recorded 10 million transactions for 395 billion FCFA. A progression continues welcomed by the director general of Gimac, Valentin Mbozo'o, for whom “this performance was made possible thanks to a certified main platform PCI-DSS in Yaoundé and a backup infrastructure in Douala.”

The Gimac also claims 35% of the 2.7 million payment cards in circulation in CEMAC, i.e. 964,150 active cards. BEAC data confirms the supremacy of mobile money in financial uses within the sub-region: 73% of transactions in volume and 65% in value were carried out via e-wallets, compared to 27% and 35% respectively for bank cards.

The Gimacpay network now has 95 participants, including 53 banks, 13 microfinance institutions, 11 operators of mobile money, the Cameroonian Public Treasury, a postal financial service and 16 aggregators connected to the platform.
