Thursday, December 4, 2025, at a ceremony organized in Yaoundé in the presence of Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, Camtel and Ethio Telecom have concluded a Master Service Agreement (MSA) lasting three years.

The strategic agreement signed between Camtel and Ethio Telecom positions the public operator Ethiopian as Camtel's exclusive partner for the deployment of Blue Money in 2026 and the global modernization of its infrastructures. It intervenes in a context marked by a strong expansion of mobile money, which includes around 24 million users in Cameroon and generated more than 2600 billion FCFA of transactions in 2025, while the arrival of Wave disrupts market balances.

This partnership is based on four pillars operational. It is primarily about the creation and development of Blue Money. Ethio Telecom brings to Camtel the expertise acquired with TeleBirr, which totals 57.6 million of users and remains the leader in Ethiopia, including after the entry of Safaricom.

The second axis concerns the modernization of network. Ethio Telecom will put layout its deployment models based on the solutions it has used in Ethiopia. Planned actions include the redevelopment of 1800/2100 MHz frequencies to extend 4G, the pre-commercial launch of the 5G on 600 priority sites between 2026 and 2027, as well as the optimization of existing sites, a process that allowed an average gain of 40% in capacity in Ethiopia.

The third part focuses on infrastructure digital government. The two partners plan to build, at Yaoundé, from a Tier III governmental data center, inspired by the model already operational in Addis Ababa.

Finally, a program of 36-month internal transformation will support Camtel through audits organizational, a redesign of human resources management, a strengthened customer culture and shared performance indicators.
