In the 3rd quarter of 2019, outstanding loans in decentralized financial systems (institutions of
microfinance) of Togo saw an average increase of 8%, compared to the end of September 2018. By
latest data from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
In WAEMU, these outstandings increased by 12.1% year-on FCFA. In proportion, Togo recorded a relatively slower increase than its neighbours for the period
considered; it comes behind Mali (+17.1%), Burkina Faso (+13.5%), Senegal (+13.3%), Côte d'Ivoire
(+12.9%) and Benin (+8.2%). Niger, for its part, showed the slightest increase (+3.1%), while
Guinea Bissau observed a sharp decline of 36.7%
In terms of deposits, Togo recorded the second increase for the quarter, i.e. 11.4%; just behind
Mali (+17.9%). This was followed by Benin (+9.8%), Côte d'Ivoire (+8.8%), Senegal (+7.5%) and Burkina
(+6,1%). In contrast, deposition declined in Guinea-Bissau (-23.1%) and Niger (-0.9%).
Over this period, the amount of deposits collected amounted to 1454.1 billion CFA francs in the WAEMU, against
1335.5 billion FCFA a year earlier, an increase of 8.9%.
