This weekend, gold hit a new high record, while silver and platinum also continued their progression to reach historic highs.

The spot gold price was up 0.3% % at $4,951.91 per ounce at 03:58 GMT, after reaching a record of $4,966.59 earlier today.

American gold futures for deliveries in February increased by 0.8% to $4,952.80 the ounce.

Cash prices jumped 2.6% to reach $98.71 per ounce, after reaching a record of 99.20 dollars earlier today.

Spot platinum has gained 0.4% to $2,639.40 per ounce after reaching a record of $2,684.43 earlier in the day, while the palladium lost 0.9% to $1,903.10
