After US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional customs duties on European countries Regarding the control of Greenland, the gold and silver prices have reached new highs on Monday.

Spot gold prices increased by 1.5% to reach $4,663.37 per ounce at 3:35am GMT, after reaching an all-time high of 4,689.39 dollars.

American gold futures for Deliveries in February jumped 1.6% to $4,669.90 the ounce.

On Saturday, Trump promised to impose a series of rights increasing customs duties to European allies until the United States is allowed to buy Greenland, thus worsening the dispute over the future of this vast Danish Arctic island.

Gold, which does not bring returns, thrives in an environment of low interest rates and in times of uncertainty economical.

The cash price increased by 3.3 % to reach $92.93 per ounce, after reaching a record high of 94.08 dollars.

Among other metals precious, spot platinum rose by 0.9% to reach $2,348.32 per ounce, while palladium rose by 0.5% for settled at 1,808.46 dollars per ounce
