In an interview with the news site ''Le-Mauricien'', Samade Jhummun, CEO of Mauritius Finance, said he was satisfied with the work done by the government, the private sector and operators to ensure that Mauritius is in compliance with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), after being placed on its grey list. He admits that the ranking of Mauritius on the FATF grey list was a wake-up call for everyone.

A FATF delegation is expected in Mauritius this weekend for an On-Site Visit starting on Tuesday. The delegation's report will be submitted to a plenary assembly in October, which will then decide whether or not the country can leave this grey list and subsequently the European Union's Black List. But first, Samade Jhummun reassures that the work requested by the FATF has been put in place. " For us, this visit is a good opportunity to show the different aspects of the Mauritian financial centre and the work that has been done to obtain a high-quality product in the hope of getting off the grey list at the next FATF plenary next October," he said.

According to Samade Jhummun, meetings with members of the bar, accounting firms, with those engaged in jewelry, among others, are on the agenda to see how the FATF recommendations have been implemented. It considers that the Republic of Mauritius has shown that before the FATF deadline, it has succeeded in implementing all the recommendations. It should be noted that Mauritius Finance is the flagship of the Mauritian international financial centre sector.
