The financial actors of the WAEMU zone met from 13 to 15 April in Abidjan. This workshop organized by the Regional Council of Public Savings and Financial Markets (CREPMF) devoted the grooming of texts to better secure the market.

In accordance with the 2014-2021 Strategic Plan initiated by the CREPMF and approved in 2013 by all the States of the West African monetary zone, the actors are working to make the WAEMU market an attractive and secure financial centre, for sustainable financing of the EU economy.
As part of the first phase of the Financial Market Development Support Project (PADMAFIR) initiated by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support the development of the Regional Financial Market, CREPMF has therefore requested the expertise of the international law firm Kramer Levin for a study aimed at proofreading the texts of the based on the Annex to the Convention establishing the CREPMF and the General Regulations on the organization, functioning and control of the Regional Financial Market.
According to Mamadou N'diaye, President of CREPMF, the objective is to modernize the regulatory framework in force, with a view to improving governance and deepening the Regional Financial Market, but also and above all, to strengthen the security of investors and savers.
