To strengthen securities market regulation, the African Development Bank (AfDB) today signed a $400,000 grant agreement with Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission.

The pan-African bank intends to strengthen the regulation of the securities market of West Africa's largest economy and expand market instruments. For example, the funds provided to Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission will be used to strengthen the risk-based supervisory framework, regulate derivatives and green bonds, and build capacity in green finance. The grant will come from the Capital Markets Development Trust Fund, a multi-donor fund administered by the Bank.
