This is part of Nigeria's efforts to strengthen and improve security in the West African sub-region.
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai interacted with journalists during the ship's departure ceremony. He emphasized the importance of the operation while highlighting the expected results.
"The expectations are that, firstly, this trip shows the synergy that continues to be the hallmark of the Nigerian armed forces. The role that the Nigerian Navy is playing today through NNS KADA in moving military equipment is one of the roles assigned to the Nigerian Navy by the Constitution. By moving this equipment, we are supporting ECOWAS with the stabilization support that is established in Guinea Bissau. This equipment is needed for a Nigerian contingent there. Until now, we would have moved them by international shipment. But, we have reached the age that the Nigerian Navy can carry out this mission as planned, as it should be and as we have been mandated by the Constitution," he detailed. Thus, Yakubu Wambai stressed that the Chief of Defense Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff have taken all this into consideration.
