The Togolese government is using technology to trace people, send money to the poor during lockdown and for the rollout of vaccination.

Thanks to the COVAX structure, Togo received its first 156,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines on March 7, thanks to the coordinated support of WHO and UNICEF. To facilitate access to the Covid-19 vaccination, the Togolese authorities have allowed the population to use their mobile phone to register for the Covid-19 vaccination on a dedicated website.
By launching the vaccination campaign on March 10, the government bet on using digital platforms to reach as many people as possible. Thanks to technology, in two weeks, 19% of people over the age of 50 in the Lomé agglomeration, where 72% of Togo's COVID-19 cases are found, were vaccinated.
On the website, the menu allows users to register in 5 minutes. This easy-to-access procedure saves health workers valuable time which they use to administer the vaccine to as many people as possible.
