The European Union has just approved a third disbursement for the benefit of the Nigerien government, following two other disbursements made in May and November 2020, the cumulative amounts of which amounted to 45.2 billion CFA francs. The last, amounting to 23 billion FCFA, comes within the framework of the fight against the consequences of the coronavirus.

The total amount of disbursements now stands at 68.2 billion CFA francs. In the words of Finance Minister Ahmat Jidoud. These funds, which constitute a donation to the State budget, will be used to finance the government's overall response plan to the fight against the pandemic on the one hand, and to mitigate the effects of food insecurity and the consequences of terrorist attacks and floods on the other hand.

The Ambassador-country of the European Union, Denisa-Elena Ionete congratulated Niger for the good results obtained and which made this third disbursement possible. "This new disbursement was possible thanks to the work done by Niger in strengthening the sectors of justice, internal security, human rights, border management and the fight against irregular migration as well as in the agricultural and rural sector", she said to this effect.

Budget support makes it possible to accompany Niger in the implementation of public and sectoral development policy measures as well as reforms.
