Federal prosecutor Patrick Lamon is on his way to retire scheduled for the end of May. According to him, the imminent retirement alleviates the silence imposed by the Code of Criminal Procedure and the duty of reserve. Patrick Lamon, after a career as an investigating judge in the canton of Fribourg, joined the Office of the Attorney General of the Confederation in 2001. As a prosecutor, Patrick Lamon has investigated some high-profile cases related to Central Asia. Since 2016, he has also been responsible for money laundering at the OAG, a position he now hands over to his colleague Gérard Sautebin. This role has led him to be part of different working groups, national or international, to try to curb the flow of money of criminal origin, and has made him one of the most qualified practitioners in the country in the field.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) regularly recommends that the Confederation tighten its enforcement arsenal, while the OECD criticised in 2018 the fact that sanctions on corruption are not sufficiently "effective, proportionate and dissuasive'.
