Ghanaian-born entrepreneur, Ashifi Gogo, developed Sproxil, a technology to verify the authenticity of consumer products. His own way of fighting counterfeiting.

In Africa, counterfeiting affects many sectors, from medicine to food and the textile industry. Sproxil, a company based in the United States, specializes in the protection of pharmaceutical and food brands, with African countries as its main market.

The company has diversified its service by adding new offerings including Sproxil Informer, a track and trace system that allows the supplier to be alerted if the product is not following its intended path in the supply chain.
It provides consumers with the means to do a quick authenticity test by SMS or by an application, to verify a unique number on the packaging of products via its platform.

Its flagship solution called Sproxil Defender also allows it to organize promotions or contests, or any other incentive to consume the product. Sproxil partners directly with legitimate manufacturers and distributors to apply a special security label, with a scratch-off panel on each product.
Launched in 2009, Sproxil is the repository of more than 3 billion unique digital codes for brand products using its platform.
