The Beninese government, through a decree dated June 22, has set up the National Coordination Committee for activities to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The Minister of Finance or his representative, responsible for leading the committee, appointed 18 members by order. They include the Special Prosecutor of the Court of Repression of Economic Crimes and Terrorism (CRIET), the presidents of the National Financial Information Processing Unit (Centif), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin (CCI Benin), the(CCI Benin), the Order of Chartered Accountants and Certified Accountants (Oecca Benin), the Chamber of Notaries, the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Establishments (Apbef-Benin), the National Director of the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Benin and the National Bank of Benin.nin), the National Director of BCEAO, the Director of the Treasury, the Director of the Republican Police, and the High Commissioner for the Prevention of Corruption.

According to Decree 2022-350, the newly installed committee will be responsible for "taking appropriate measures to identify, understand and assess on an ongoing basis the risks of money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to which the country is exposed.of weapons of mass destruction to which Benin is exposed and keep this assessment up to date", to raise awareness of these risks among all segments of the population and to take the necessary measures to regulate these scourges.
