Governor Radda pointed out that the 2026 budget is an entirely citizen budget, drawn up thanks to the direct participation of citizens. This year, the government conducted consultations across the board of the 361 districts, an advance compared to the zonal consultations of the previous year. He explained that more than 78,000 citizens have participated in public meetings organized in their constituencies, where the communities outlined their priority needs. The governor hinted that next year, the consultations could extend to offices of voting in order to strengthen citizen participation.
This is the first budget in the history of the state
whose current expenses are as low as 18%, thus perpetuating
the legacy established under the late Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, who ensured that
current expenses do not exceed 30%.
