During the month of November 2019, banks' own liquidity improved by 120.9 billion, in
link with the improvement in the balance of transactions with the State and other net factors (+256.8 billion), as well as
than the increase in net resource inflows from outside (+51.3 billion).
This information is given by the Bceao in its Monthly Note on Economic Conditions in the
WAEMU countries at the end of November 2019. She explains that this trend has been mitigated by withdrawals
significant banknotes during the period (+187.2 billion).
According to the Bceao, the analysis of the implementation of the minimum reserve system, at the end of the period
of incorporation expired on November 15, 2019, shows a surplus situation for banks ofbr
the Union in relation to the required reservations. Banks' free reserves, valued over the period, are amounted to 920.1 billion, or 132.0% of the required reserves.
Banks' liabilities to the Central Bank in November 2019 fell by 76.4 billion compared to the end of October 2019.
In the same dynamic, the Bceao adds that the monetary situation of the Union at the end of November 2019 is
marked by a year-on-year increase in the money supply (+11.4%). This evolution is
driven by the increase in deposit-taking institutions' claims on resident sectors (+2,707.3
billion) and the increase in their net external assets (+1,135.6 billion). Deposits, on the other hand, were <> increased year-on-year by 12.3% while cash circulation improved by 8.0%.
