To ensure the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area
(ZLECA), this continent must promote common border management protocols between its countries,
a senior Ghanaian immigration official told Xinhua.
Laud Ofori-Afrifa, Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Ghana Immigration Service Operations
(GIS), said in an interview on the occasion of Ghana's three-day National Consultative Forum on
implementation of the ZLECA that this measure was intended to strike a balance between the imperatives of
promote trade and manage border security.
"We need an integrated border management system, in which all border agencies
border guards would jointly adopt measures to ensure unimpeded movement
people and property," he said.
The Ghana National Consultative Forum aims to discuss and develop strategies for the country
to derive maximum benefit from the implementation of the ZLECA and the hosting of its secretariat.
