The price of Brent oil is expected to rise gradually over the next five years to reach $62 a barrel in 2025. This is what IFP Énergies nouvelles (Ifpen) notes in its latest "scoreboard" on the oil markets. "For 2021, the median Bloomberg consensus value for the price of Brent is $50 a barrel.

Economists polled by the US news agency predict a gradual increase in the price of Brent over the next five years to reach $ 62 per barrel in 2025, "says the French research institute in the fields of energy, transport and the environment.

In its analysis, IFP New Energies found that on a weekly average, Brent, on the London futures market, gained last week $ 2.6 per barrel, an increase of 5.1%. WTI followed the same trend and gained $2.1 a barrel for the week, up 4.4%.

"The structure of Brent prices in offset or 'backwardation' is intensifying, a sign that the oil market is tightening and the number of net long positions is up 2.6% over the week," said the French research institute.
