The former Ivorian Minister of Economy and Finance, Adama Koné has been newly appointed Minister to the President of the Republic in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs "with a view to representing Côte d'Ivoire as a Director at the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support Nigeria in the quest for the reappointment of President Akinwumi Adesina".
The information was given Thursday in Abidjan by Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara who was speaking in a speech at the presidential palace in Abidjan during the first Council of Ministers of his new government. According to the Ivorian president, "Adesina is doing an excellent job."
Adama Koné will replace Moussa Dosso, appointed Wednesday Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources in the new Ivorian government. He will be the Administrator of Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Equatorial Guinea.
Mr. Adesina announced on June 14 in Malabo at the closing of the 54th Annual Meetings of the AfDB Group, his candidacy for his own succession for a second term at the head of this pan-African development institution.
He was elected on May 28, 2015 as head of the AfDB. The next election will take place at the 55th Annual Meetings of the AfDB Group scheduled for 2020 in Côte d'Ivoire, the Bank's headquarters.
