Strengthen the capacities of the Caisse de dépôts in terms of asset and liability management, portfolio and risk. And above all, have a strong governance framework, an adequate risk management framework, an excellent ability to mobilize and manage public funds in the portfolio. These are the offers that the African Development Bank (AfDB) offers, in partnership with the Caisse de dépôts et de consignation de Côte d'Ivoire (Cdc-CI), to other African Deposit Banks in order to make them more efficient.

This is the subject of a training and capacity building session held on 20 and 21 January 2021 by videoconference and which brought together members from the Caisses des dépôts et consignations (Cdc) of Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Senegal, Gabon and Tunisia.

 "These training sessions are an opportunity for the Caisses des dépôts et consignations to strengthen their operational capacities, to immerse themselves in best management practices, to appropriate the innovative financial mechanisms and instruments of development institutions such as the African Development Bank," said Lassina Fofana, director general of the CDC of Côte d'Ivoire.

For Stefan Nalletamby, Director of the Bank's Financial Sector Development Department, the Bank's support to the CDC is an integral part of its financial sector development strategy because of the important role they have to play in the long-term financing of the Bank's five high strategic priorities called es High 5. "To meet the needs of economies, CDC must have a strong risk management framework and capacity to mobilize, manage and invest public funds in their portfolios. This is their major challenge. " he said.
