The Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Studies highlights in its latest publication "Point
monthly economic situation - February 2020 " that at the end of January 2020, payroll employment in the modern sector fell
by 1.3% compared to the end of the previous month, in line with the respective decreases in the number of employees in the
secondary (-1.7%) and tertiary (-0.8%) sectors
It explains this situation by the net job losses recorded in industries (-2.5%), the
services (-0.8%) and trade (-0.8%). However, the construction subsector recorded creations
net employment of 4.7% over the period.
Over one year, payroll employment in the modern sector increased overall by 5.9% at the end of January 2020, at the
thanks to the increase in the number of employees in industries (+5.9%), services (+8.6%) and construction (+0.5%).
The number of employees in the commercial subsector fell by 0.4%.
