On Friday, October 21, 2022, a parliamentary information day was held on the status of ongoing reforms in Niger in the area of public finance management, the analysis of budget documentation, analysis of reports from the Court of Auditors, the State Budget Nomenclature (NBE) and the State Financial Operations Table (TOFE). This day was organized by the National Assembly with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union of Niger at its premises.

The objective of the parliamentary information day was to strengthen the capacities of members of the National Assembly and the technical staff of the General Commissions Permanent on the tools of the new budgetary reform. During this day, the work took place under the auspices of the 2nd Vice-President of the National Assembly Alkabouss Jalaoui and the president of the Finance and Budget Committee, Issaka Assoumane. For the deputy, that, like the other member countries of UEMOA, Niger is committed to reform in the areas of public financial management and the fight against corruption with a view to ensuring budgetary and financial transparency, the efficiency of public spending and the recovery of budgetary resources.

According to him, “this reform resulted mainly in the switch from the average budget to the programme budget and the transition to Results-based Management (RBM) so that every franc spent is more useful and more effective for the community. In addition, there is an increase in the amount of budgetary and financial documentation to be exploited, and the growing demand for transparency by citizens and partners for access to budgetary and financial information that is timely, readable, reliable, and of quality.”
