During a virtual conversation with the Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the African department that Ouattara headed from 1984 to 1988, the Head of State deplores that 46 countries in sub-Saharan Africa are represented by only two chairs on the board of directors of the IMF with a voting power of 7.09%.
"This observation shows that there is still a long way to go to improve the representation of the African continent in the Monetary Fund", he underlined. The Ivorian president also underlined the need to show flexibility in terms of the budget deficit "without calling into question the sustainability of the public debt and the solidity of the macro-economic framework which is the priority of priorities".
