With a total cost of 1.8 billion dollars, the deep water port of Ndayane was officially launched on Monday, January 3, 2022. The infrastructure is equipped with a Special Economic Zone and covers 1,200 hectares.

Senegal has launched the activities of its deep water port in Ndayane. This ambitious project, piloted by the Emirati Dubai Ports World (DP World) equipped with a Special Economic Zone, extends over 1,200 hectares and will cost, in all, 1.8 billion dollars. The project foresees the construction of an 840 m long wharf with a depth of 18 m. This wharf will be able to accommodate post panamax vessels of 366 m in length. The second phase of the project includes the construction of a second 410 m quay and the additional dredging of the shipping channel. The port will support the Autonomous Port of Dakar in terms of trade. A port that handles nearly 95% of the country's trade.
