The Ghana Statistical Service announced that inflation in the country slowed to 9.4% in September, marking its ninth decline consecutive monthly and the first single-digit reading since August 2021.

Rate is now within the target range Bank of Ghana's medium term of 8% ± 2%, reaching the end goal 2025 three months earlier than expected. The government statistician, Alhassan Iddrisu, said that the data confirms a disinflation process that started at the end of last year after inflation hit a peak of nearly 24% in December 2024. The decrease reflects the base effects, the reduction in food prices and greater stability of cedi.

Commodity inflation food increased from 14.8% to 11%, while the rate of imported goods slowed to 7.4% and that of services to 4.8%. The inflation of local goods remained high, at 10.1 per cent, and regional disparities persisted - from 20.1% in the Northeast to 1.2% in Bono

East.
