During a press conference on Wednesday in Kinshasa, Industry Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya announced the holding of the first international exhibition of industry and technological innovation RDC 2021 (SIIIT DRC 2021). The event will be held next May. The organization of SIIIT DRC 2021 aims to restore the image of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and present the industrial opportunities that the country offers. For the Minister of Industry, the advent of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is an opportunity that the African authorities must seize, as it will give them the opportunity to trade without customs or taxes. "The DRC has 60,000 (sixty thousand) tariff products, that is, 6,000 (six thousand) products that it can trade with the world. That's why this show is important to share with the world all the opportunities that the country offers. Since AGOA has authorized the export of the products without customs, this will allow the inflow of foreign currency that will support our economy. It is therefore important to increase production and a good industrial policy," said Julien Paluku. An industrialization master plan has already been developed to serve as a guide for each investor. According to the minister, the success of this fair will allow the creation of the National School of Trades and Industrial Technologies to provide investors with a qualified local workforce. The benefits expected at the end of this exhibition, which will bring together more than 5,000, include the creation and strengthening of business relations between national and international manufacturers that will promote the sharing of industrial technologies and experiences, as well as the realization of a 2030 specification for Congolese industry sanctioning the exchanges of the various panels of experts and participants.
