According to the report of the 2020 edition of the Mo Ibrahim Index 2020 of good governance in Africa, published on Monday, November 16, Benin is ranked 2nd in the WAEMU area , 4th in  ECOWAS and 13th in Africa. According to the said report, Benin recorded a total of 58.6 points out of 100 with a margin of progression of 1.1 compared to the decade 2010 to 2019. The country has indeed distinguished itself despite the fact that the overall trend is to decline in form in governance in Africa. In addition, it has progressed in human development with a score of 55.0 or more than 4.1 between 2010 and 2019.

It is the same for the foundations for an economic opportunity where Benin gets away with a score of 53.5 out of 100. In addition, in terms of security and the rule of law and the fight against corruption, Benin has experienced a leap and stands out with 66.1 and 59.7 respectively. On the other hand, in the impartiality of the judicial system between 2010 and 2019, the country regressed by 9.2 and returns to a score of 47.6. In terms of participation, rights and inclusion, there was a deterioration of 6.2 between 2010 and 2019. In terms of participation and rights, Benin has also fallen by 16.9 and 12.0 respectively in ten years. On the other hand, the country has made progress in the same period in the area of inclusion and equality, and in the area of gender.
