A press release announced that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi praised the work the African Development Bank Group is doing to help the continent deal with the impact on 4 April this year global economic challenges. He received the President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, in Cairo.

The President of the African Development Bank Group travelled to Egypt to learn about preparations for the Bank Group's 2023 Annual Meetings. This Assembly is scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 May in the seaside resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. No fewer than 13 heads of state and government are expected to attend these meetings, to discuss mobilizing private sector finance for climate and green growth in Africa alongside governors, directors, development partners and the bank's management.

Adesina announced that “the African Development Bank is responsible for leading the mobilization of funding for projects in the water pillar. The bank raised $2.3 billion, surpassing the original target of $1.4 billion.” It also supports water desalination projects in the country.
