Initially scheduled for later, this advanced commissioning marks a key step for the country's gas ambition.
This progress is made possible by the arrival of Nguya FLNG, an imposing floating liquefaction unit 376 meters long and wide 60 meters, as well as by injecting gas into the new network offshore infrastructures.
Phase 2 is based on an industrial architecture reinforced: three production platforms, the Scarabeo 5 unit dedicated to gas treatment and compression, and the FLNG Nguya in charge of liquefaction and export. At full capacity, the unit will be able to produce up to 3 million tons of LNG per year.
This integrated configuration should allow exploitation complete with the gas resources of the offshore fields of Nené and Litchendjili, while ensuring a continuous flow to Tango FLNG — in service since the end of 2023 — and to Nguya FLNG.
“Phase 2 was launched only 35 months after the start.
of the construction of the Nguya FLNG, setting a new benchmark in the
sector in terms of speed and efficiency of execution”, highlights Eni, who
sees this progress as a strategic lever to strengthen Congo's position
on the global LNG map.
