The decision announced by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta at a press conference in Accra aims to clean up public accounts affected by poor economic choices, the weakness of a national currency battered by foreign currencies, a high debt and a budget-intensive administration. Likewise, official trips and vehicle purchases will be reduced to a strict minimum, if not canceled. Fuel allowances to officials will be reduced by 50%. The impact of such measures is estimated at a saving of 360,000 euros.
