The former Gabonese Minister of Energy, Désiré Guedon, has just taken office as Executive Director of the African Development Bank for Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Comoros, Gabon, Mali, Niger and Senegal.

Appointed following the general election of directors by the Boards of Governors at the annual meetings of the African Development Bank Group held in Accra, Ghana, in May 2022, the former Secretary-General of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) recently moved to the African financial institution as Executive Director for Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Comoros , Gabon, Mali, Niger and Senegal.

The new promoter, who replaces Maimouna Ndoye Seck from Senegal, will administer for a three-year term (2022-2025) with the support of Comoros (alternate), Burkina Faso (senior advisor) ) and Benin (adviser). Désir Guedon and his 19 other fellow ADB directors are responsible for the conduct of the Bank's general operations. They are based at the Bank's headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and meet as often as the Bank's work requires.
