The trial of Christian Patrichi Tanasa, which opened on Monday 18 July 2022, came to a close on Friday. The former Director of Gabon Oil Company (Goc) was sentenced to 12 years of criminal imprisonment.

Christian Patrichi Tanasa was found guilty of embezzlement and money laundering, crimes for which he was remanded in custody for two years and seven months. As for his deputy Jérémie Ayong, who appeared free, he was sentenced to 10 years of criminal imprisonment. A committal order was immediately issued against him: he will spend the night in prison. The general manager and his deputy were jointly and severally sentenced to pay 20 billion CFA francs [about 30 million euros] to the Gabonese state.
