Benin and Togo are working to strengthen security at their land borders. From now on, a modern control of migratory flows will be carried out in Kémérida (in the north of Togo, in the prefecture of Binah), for the passage between Togo and Benin.

The border separating Togo and Benin at Kémérida will have a new checkpoint by mid-2022. The Togolese Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, Yark Damehane has officially launched the construction of this interstate checkpoint of Kémérida between Togo and Benin. This laying of the first stone was made in the presence of representatives of the German Embassy in Togo, and of the International Office for Migration (IOM), which funded the project. The border post that will be erected will make it possible to follow the migratory flow between Benin and Togo through adequate monitoring and control tools. The construction work is scheduled to last 6 months.
