The "Mohammed VI Fund for Investment" is a real catalyst to give a new impetus to the investment dynamic in the Kingdom, said the Resident Representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Morocco, Leila Farah Mokaddem.

"In this exceptional context, we welcome the decision of His Majesty the King to create the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment, whose role is to finance the economic recovery plan. This fund is a real catalyst," Mokaddem said in an interview with MAP.

The said fund will give a new impetus to the investment dynamic by supporting strategic sectors of activity and supporting structuring projects, within the framework of public-private partnerships (PPPs), she added.

He continued: "This is the whole meaning of our action. Our operations in Morocco are therefore perfectly intertwined with this vision and logic of intervention that prioritize investment and promote industrialization with high added value, with the aim of ensuring decent jobs".

In this sense, Ms. Mokaddem said that currently, the AfDB is implementing 35 operations representing $ 3.7 billion ( billion ), noting that these commitments are distributed in various sectors (Health, Energy, Transport, Water and Sanitation, Human Development, Agriculture, etc.).

For the Bank, the Kingdom is a true strategic partner, she said. "In more than fifty years of presence, we have had nearly 170 operations that have mobilized more than $ 10 billion".

The partnership is bearing fruit, Mokaddem said, noting that between 2008 and 2018, 3.5 million people had access to safe drinking water and sanitation and 8.5 million people, including more than four million women, benefited from better health services.

In the energy sector, which is so strategic, nearly seven million people have been connected to the electricity grid, while 16 million people have had better access to transport infrastructure.
