On 15 December last year, the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a credit line of 25 million US dollars for the Central Africa Building Society of Zimbabwe.

The Bad plans to finance trade and boost small and medium-sized businesses and local entrepreneurs. Its financing will help to strengthen the foreign currency liquidity of this construction company, as the economic situation is currently difficult in Zimbabwe. There will also be a question of filling part of the trade finance gap, mainly due to the fact that international lenders have reduced or interrupted their trade transactions, as the country is considered high-risk. The credit line complements the recently approved $7.5 million transaction guarantee to support SME and local business value chains in Zimbabwe.
