Global Interjapan (Kenya) Limited, a civil engineering company registered in Kenya has just been excluded for 36 months with effect from 24 August 2020, due to fraudulent practices. The announcement was made by the African Development Bank Group on February 16, 2021.

Global Interjapan (Kenya) Limited and its affiliates are now ineligible to participate in projects financed by the Bank Group for 36 months. An investigation by the Bank's Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption reveals that Global Interjapan (Kenya) Limited engaged in fraudulent practices during a tender for the Small-Scale and Value-Added Irrigation Project co-financed by the Banking in Kenya.
The small-scale irrigation and value-added project aimed to reduce poverty by improving agricultural productivity, incomes and food security of people in 11 counties in Kenya and was co-financed by the African Development Bank, an entity of the African Development Bank Group.
In accordance with the Agreement for the Mutual Execution of Exclusion Decisions, this AfDB decision may give rise to further exclusions by other multilateral development banks, such as the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank Group.
